DERMAL FILLERS:

What are dermal fillers and how do they work:

Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already found in the body. It is a soft aesthetic gel-based treatment injected beneath the skin to help add or restore lost volume. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water which helps retain moisture and assist your skin with hydration leaving it looking plump and feeling soft while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are a great way to contour, add volume and correct asymmetries of the face.

Treatment Areas Include:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Marionette Lines
  • Chin

How long will my dermal filler last:

Dermal fillers are a temporary treatment so effects can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. 

There are several factors that can influence the longevity of dermal filler and these include but are not limited to:

  • Age
  • Sex
  • Tissue conditions
  • How fast your body breaks down the product
  • General health and lifestyle conditions
  • Sun exposure
  • The product used
  • The area being treated
  • Your hydration
  • Metabolism (exercise and stress levels)

Every individual however is different and results will vary. It may take additional treatments until your desired outcome is achieved.

When will I see results?

Results are generally seen immediately however due to some slight swelling and or bruising that can occur, the final result can take up to 3 weeks.

Aftercare

24-48 hours post treatment: 

Avoid alcohol, exercise, massaging/pressure on treated area

For the following 2 weeks post treatment: 

Avoid massages, saunas, waxing/facials/microdermabrasions etc, dental procedures, and prolonged exposure to UV, heat or freezing temperatures. 

Common side affects may include

  • Swelling 
  • Bruising 
  • Tenderness 
  • Redness 
  • Itchiness

These symptoms can be treated with paracetamol (NO ibuprofen), cold compress to affected area in 10min intervals, antihistamine to help minimise swelling and itchiness. Arnica tablets to help reduce bruising. If you are however concerned at all please call immediately.

Please note If you are prone to cold sores, it could be aggravated by this treatment, please speak to your pharmacist about prophylactic medication that can be taken prior to treatment to avoid a reaction.

ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT:

What are anti-wrinkle injections and how do they work:

Anti-wrinkle injections are made from a purified protein that block the signal from nerve to muscle temporarily causing the injected facial muscle to relax. This reduces the activity of contraction that causes those static and dynamic lines to form. While it has the benefit of temporilary softening the treated area and diminishing those fine lines and wrinkles, it also has the advantage of preventing further wrinkles and deep static lines caused by repetitive muscle activity like laughing and frowning.

How long will my treatment take

Treatment can take between 10-30mins depending on areas being treated

When will I see results?

Anti-wrinkle injections can start working anywhere from 4-7 days with full effect reaching its peak around day 14 

How long does anti-wrinkle treatment last

Anti-wrinkle treatment is a temporary treatment so effects can last anywhere from 3-4 months. 

There are several factors that can influence the longevity of anti-wrinkle and these include but are not limited to:

  • Hormones
  • Metabolism 
  • Exercise
  • Illness/medical conditions 
  • Medications

Aftercare:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment
  • Remain upright for 4 hours following treatment
  • Avoid facials, waxing, laser, sauna’s & excessive pressure on the treated areas for 14 days
